What's in N.S.W Obituary and where can I find an Index?Essentially, this is a newspaper search. These notices are helpful for researchers in that they often provide the names of relatives of the deceased person such as “loved father of John and Mary”. The Ryerson Index can be helpful in determining whether a notice has been placed in the newspapers, especially if the death is in the latter part of the 20th century or in this century. The index will not only give you a death date but also the notice’s publication date and the newspaper(s) in which it was published. Although this index is most detailed for the latter part of the 20th century, it has been expanded and is always worth checking for earlier periods. The website for the Ryerson Index is http://www.ryersonindex.org. Place an Order for an Obituary
